Baby Tunic Dress

This was inspired by the Delia Sweater Tunic (on etsy and ravelry). I love the concept of a layering dress that can be worn alone, or over other clothes in the winter. I plan to make a long sleeve version at some point. This version is very simple - rows of sc, decorative edging, cap sleeves. A multi-colored version would be fun - wide stripes, perhaps.

Dress Up Jacket

Materials Needed:
• H Hook (5 mm)
• 5 buttons
• 3.5 skeins (280 grams) Worsted Weight Yarn: Moda Dea Bamboo Wool (color 3702 boysenberry)

Dimensions: 15 inches total length from shoulder to hem.

Fits 3-6 months

Gage: 10 sts and 8 rows in 2 inches.

Ch 71.

R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Remaining rows are working in back loop only:
R2-16: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

R17: Dec sc, sc in each st across, work dec sc over last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.

R18: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

R19-24: repeat rows 17-18 three times.

Edging:
R1: Attach to one side of lower edge. Work sc evenly around entire dress, working 3 sc in each corner. Ch 1, turn not turn.

R2: Work sc evenly around entire dress, working 3 sc in each corner. On one front side, mark and work 5 buttonholes, evenly spaced. To work a buttonhole, ch 2, skip two sts, then resume sc. Ch 1, do not turn.

R3: Work sc evenly around entire dress, working 3 sc in each corner. On neckline and the same side as the button holes, work the following pattern: *(Sc, skip next st, hdc, three dc in next st, hdc, skip next st.) Repeat from *. Fasten off, weave in loose ends.


Sleeves (make two):
Mark 4 rows up from lower center of armhole on either side.

R1: Attach yarn to one of marked places, work sc evenly around armhole. Ch 1, turn. Turn should be in the direction of shoulder, if needed do not turn and work in the correct direction.

R2: Dec sc, sc in each st to 2 sts from next marker, dec sc. Ch 1, turn.

R3: Dec sc, sc in each st to 2 sts from next marker, dec sc. Ch 1, turn.

R4: repeat R3. Finished row should have 19 sts. Add or eliminate dec sc if needed.

R5: *(Sc, skip next st, hdc, three dc in next st, hdc, skip next st.) Repeat from * twice, sc in last st. Fasten off and weave in loose ends.

Sew on buttons.
