The best way to describe this project is as a successful failure. It was supposed to be a hat (you can find the pattern on Ravelry, Vintage Bonnet by Sidsel Sangild) and I somehow managed to get it horribly wrong. A combination of too small hook and thin yarn, is my guess. It's not a bad vase, though. I have it around a ceramic cup for now, and plan to starch it to stand alone as a bowl.

Great idea and really not bad looking at all.
Did you make the small size? I have a suspicion that it might not work after all... didn't try it out.
Hope you succeed with a new hat! :-)
I made the large size, but I think my yarn was the problem. I'm going to try with a 4.00 mm hook and sport weight yarn and see how it goes. I love the look of the hat - I know it will work out eventually :).
I look forward to seeing it after you starch and sand it. I've been meaning to try it myself.
